Since its formation in 1938, the TAS Parents and Friends’ Association has made an enormous contribution to the school, each year generating considerable funds for school projects and building programs. The energy and enthusiasm of the TAS parent community is recognised by other schools, envious of the activity TAS parents provide and the school is indebted to the P&F for this focus and drive.
The P&F Committee
Every TAS parent becomes an automatic member of the P&F when their child enrols at the school and they all have the right to attend the meetings throughout the term, or to nominate and join the P&F Committee who have oversight of all activities run throughout the year. Whether it be as a liaison parent, a Uniform Shop volunteer or a home-baker of delicious goodies during the rugby season, there are many ways to help. Regular meetings are held at the School, and an enthusiastic committee welcomes the active support of members in whatever way they can.

Liaison Parents
For each student year group, volunteer liaison parents help coordinate the P&F efforts throughout the year as well as arrange social events and get-togethers for families. This network provides parents with the chance to meet informally which is particularly valuable for new parents and boarding parents who may not get to visit TAS very often. If you would like to know a little more about what is involved, please email the P& F on [email protected].
Catering at sporting events
For a range of school events including the annual Swimming and Athletics Championships and home rugby fixtures, the P&F puts out the call for home baked, or store bought, goodies to sell, and for volunteers to donate an hour or so to run the stall. The biggest event - and most rewarding and fun to be a part of - is the TAS Rugby Carnival that brings thousands of visitors to the school every April. At the carnival the P&F operates various food outlets, including a barbecue, cakes and coffee stall and soup kitchen.
TAS Puds
In Term 3, a group of parents get together to make our delicious and quite famous Gourmet Christmas Puddings. These are sold throughout the school and community in the lead up to Christmas. You can help out by joining in on these fun cooking days or by donating some delicious ingredients.
Involvement in School Governance
Alongside the Old Armidalians’ Union, Anglican Diocese of Armidale and TAS Foundation, the P&F is also responsible for the Governance of the school by appointing six members to The Armidale School company.
