Dear Parents and Carers,
The end of Term 3 is a particularly special time for our Year 12 students as they formally leave their secondary education and prepare for their final examinations. It gives me great pleasure to outline the events that we have planned as we celebrate their Valedictory Week.
Monday 18 September and Tuesday 19 September
Classes will remain as normal and students will be encouraged to remain focussed to ensure the best possible preparation for their HSC examinations. These are the last two days of schooling so it will also be an opportunity for students to thank their teachers, Advisors and those in the school who have supported them through their last two years.
Wednesday 20 September
- No Year 12 classes
- At 9:00am, all Year 12 are to meet in Big School for a briefing, completion of their Old Armidalians’ Union admission application, filling in their Year 12 Exit Survey and distribution of House Ties, followed by The ‘Last Lesson’
- The remainder of the day until 3.30pm will include Interhouse Sporting and Public Speaking activities.
Thursday 21 September
- 8.40 - 9.45 am
School Assembly and awarding of Colours and Commendation certificates is also an opportunity for all year groups to farewell Year 12 - 10.00am
Morning Tea on Chapel Lawn with Year 12 students and their parents and extended family - 10.30 am
The formal ‘Lining of the Drive’ ceremony with all staff and students from Year 4 to Year 11
Parents are also invited to walk down the drive to Memorial Hall from the Chapel Lawn
After parents process, Year 12 walk in silence to Memorial Hall for their Valedictory Chapel service and Candle Ceremony. All Year 12 parents are invited to attend - 12.00 pm
Year 12 students leave school at the conclusion of the service - 3.30 pm
End of Term 3. School concludes for all other years and students return home - 6.00 - 8.00 pm
Year 12 House Dinners. (Girl’s Boarding Sunday 17 September).
Friday 22 September
Valedictory Prize Giving and Formal Lunch
- 10.30 am
Morning Tea on the Chapel Lawn for all Year 12, their parents, extended family and TAS staff - 11.15 am
- All parents and students move to Memorial Hall
- 11.30 am
Prize Giving, Valedictory Guest Speaker and presentation of OAU gifts of Membership. Valedictory Lunch in the TAS Dining Hall for Year 12 and two parents/ carers. Due to limited space in the Dining Hall, only Year 12 students and up to two parents/carers are able to attend the Valedictory lunch.
Please note
Extended family are very welcome to attend the Valedictory Assembly, morning tea and the Chapel and Candle Ceremony on Thursday 21 September as well as the morning tea and Year 12 Prize Giving Assembly on Friday 22 September.
Saturday 23 September
4.00 pm
- Formal photos and light refreshments on the Chapel lawn - Year 12 Formal at Echidna Gully - organised by Year 12 parents.
